My title is actually a distinct possibility- not in the "men will disappear sense" more in the "we don't need men to reproduce sense". Scientists have been toying with the idea of making sperm for years and have finally done so using stem cells AND have successfully fertilized a mouse egg. This raises sooo many different questions all at once in my mind like.. a) is there anything awesomer than stem cells??? and b) morally speaking...where does God fit into this?? and perhaps most importantly, c) is this the death of condoms?!!! right so thats my two cents :) i'm going to go mull over the possibilities now...

a world without men

a) there is nothing awesomer than stem cells, unless it's a whole bunch of em together in an embryo.
b)I'm not sure how God fits in with this - it's another case of us out running anything he's given us rules for...
I don't see any problems with it: if in 10 or 20 years, when the technology has come into clinical use, a few thousand infertile men and lesbian couples can conceive using their own, rather than donated genetic material... so what? Why would God or anyone else have a problem?
c)No - because millions of sperm are still being made in testicles around the world and if you have sex - well you see where I'm going with that ;-)
I imagine a Frankestein type scenario when I think about this.
What about soul?
Life psychologically damages people enough as it is, why we would want to create humans that are inventions is beyond me. I think it's amazing that they are doing this - but creation of should be left to God.
This is just not right, playing with life like that. What next? Farmed humans?
Lord knows there are enough orphans in this world for every childless couple to have a child. This is (in my opinion) scientitifc excellence, and moral toilet.

i gotta disagree with you here... although stem cells are great for furthering our understanding/cures of diseases ... this part of biotechnology is what turns me off... there are too many scary implications... probably many we cannot even fathom

What about soul?
I don't think that adoption should be the only option for couples who find it difficult to conceive a child, and I don't see why adoption should only be an option for the infertile.
Farmed humans? very very unlikely. First off very hard to do if your thinking of the full on Matrix style grown-in-a-pod type of farmed human - and second, why bother? There are generally enough people in the world; no need to create farms full of them.

world without men wouldnt be good,40% of bone matter babies die in 1 year from moment beeing born, so yeah. world without men wont last long
