Shoes.

I bought these and I don't know why. But I like. And my sister and mom hate. I still love them. I love shoes. I love unique shoes. I never go for the staple style, I don't know why. I do not own a pair of black shoes and, for some reason, I never really needed them.

I still don't know why I bought them three days before returning back to India.  It's not like I'd want to wear and ruin them here. Anyways, love 'em or hate 'em I'm not returning them! Anyways, I didn't mean for this post to be so frickin'  GIRLY but it happened and I can't undo it. Here are some looks I found on Polyvore:

There are TONS of outfits on there. I could browse through them forever. But alas, I only went as far as the first 3 pages or so since I'm supposed to be working right now. See ya!

Page turner, for sure

I just finished reading the first book of the Millennium Trilogy by the late Stieg Larsson, Girl with a Dragon Tattoo.

I heard about it a couple of years ago, and for an unknown reason that I can't fathom, I assumed it was about a teenage girl who rebelled against her parents, was influenced by peers, joined a cult, and got a dragon tattoo.

It was nothing like that.

If you read the book, you're probably laughing at me.

If you have not read the book, you should. Then you can laugh at me too.

I really wish I could talk about the book and tell you my thoughts on it, but I know that Falling Up is going to read it soon, and I dont want to ruin it for her.

But if you will allow, here is my summary of the book:

A journalist from Sweden, Mikael, loses a case against a big shot industrialist by the name of Wennestrom. Mikael' s sentence: losing his prestige, his magazine,
Millennium, facing repercussions, and a jail sentence of 6 months. Shortly after his sentence, Mikael is approached by Henrik Vanger, a former CEO of the Vanger Corporations, with a unusual job of solving a 30 year old crime that was committed against his beloved great niece, Harriet Vanger. After several attempts to convince Mikael to accept the offer, Henrik finally seals the deal by telling Mikael that he has proof that will put Wennestrom in prison and allow Mikael to regain his former stature. Feeling dejected and at a loss, Mikael agrees to take on the job. Mikael is thereafter joined by Lisbeth Salander, a sly and cunningly intelligent girl who is able to help him with the case. Collectively they embark on a journey and find out more than they ever wanted to know and more than they had ever anticipated finding out.

I didnt think I would be much interested in it. To be perfectly honest, when I first read the book (about 20 pages into it) I wanted to fall asleep and somehow I dragged myself through it. And I'm glad I did. It has so many twists and turns, that I almost couldn't keep up. It is extremely well written and keeps you guessing till the end. If you are in the mood for a book that will force you to keep reading until the very last page and in need of a summer thriller that will keep you engrossed, then this is the book for you.

P.S.Turns out they made all three movies based off the books by Stieg Larsson. I'm so excited to watch the first one this weekend!

In Your Face

While walking out of the library I spotted two men and a woman in conversation. She sounded upset but I couldn't tell because she was talking low. As we got closer I guessed she was probably trying not to make a scene by yelling at one of the men in front of everyone.

And then

*Slapppp* across his face.

So much for not making a scene.

He didn't do anything. He just looked down and took it. I had to see who this woman was. She was older than him. Maybe his mother or sister, I couldn't tell. I turned to have a look at her face because if she was younger than him or his wife, he would probably gone all "Gurrrrl, I'm gonna CUT you" on her. Well that's my opinion, based off my observations here in the third world.

Anyways the point of my post was SHE SLAPPED HIM! I've never ever seen anyone slap anyone in the face ever. I got all ooh-drama-what-now/scared/sad/happy he didn't hit her back. I always wondered how it would feel to slap someone. Is that bad? Well, I'm a weakling so if I did it would probably tickle the person or something. Oh, I know, it doesn't matter how it feels, it's the principle of it. You just don't slap people in the face unless it's serious.

My friend wondered how it would feel, too.

Her: *Brother* come here for a minute.
Him: Yes, my dear older sister who I love so much and would do any-
Her: *slappp*
Him: Owwwww. *grabbing cheek* Why!??
Her: Sorry...I just wanted to know how it'd feel. Let me get you some ice.

True story.

OMG THAT'S SO ANNOYING.

We all have things that piss us off. Here are mine:

1. Slobs: Messy is okay. As long as your stuff is all clean. Occasionally. But dirty is a whole other story. We can't be friends. Sorry.

2. When I'm having a conversation with someone and a third person comes along and starts talking to me mid-conversation. It's different if there's something important that needs to be said. But if they repeatedly call my name and poke and prod me until I go, "WHAT!?" And they're like, "Look! I have ten fingers!" then I get annoyed.

3. Hair in the drain: *barf* I brush my hair before showering to get any loose strands out. I can't even stand my own hair in the drain.

4. Canceled plans: Story of my life. *sigh* Which is why when I try not to make plans. Everyone is so busy. Ugh. So winging it is way better.

5. People who take things, use them, break them and act like they don't know what you're talking about. MEAN. This has become a recent pet peeve.

I can't think of other stuff that bothers me as much as these five. I'm sure I have quirks that drive people crazy. Like meowing. IDK why I meow. But I'm Italian, now, after PI informed me that Italian cats go "Miao".  Share some of yours. :)

Bahamas Baby

My brother recently got married and went to the Bahamas with my sister in law for their honeymoon.

The pictures were AMAZING. I don't have them on my laptop but here are some I stole found online. Google is my friend.

And I know food isn't exactly nature but I heart food. And I love the drinks. Here in the third world we call the non-alcoholic drinks "mocktails". I said it in America and people looked at me weird. =/

I never thought anything so beautiful could exist. Now I want to go. It really makes you reflect and think about life in general. Getting in touch with nature, spending time outdoors and taking in the natural beauty of the world is really good for the soul.

"Then which of the favors of your Lord will ye deny?"
{Chapter 55: This verse is repeated through out the chapter}

Anyways, they got me this pretty box made out of sea shells. And I keep my pretty rings in it. Yay for pretty things. :) And I like how it goes in my room, too.

Sea Shell Jewelry Box by you.
