Out with the old, In with the new.

I wanna try new things.

Or I want to,want to try new things.

So I started a bucket list.

A bucket list is basically a list of things that are supposed to be accomplished or attempted before a person dies.

But my list will be a list that I want to accomplish by the ripe old age of thirty. Because you know thirty might as well equal death.

I've said I don't like change.

But it's mostly change dealing with losing people. Physically or emotionally. That kind of change I could do without.

I don't really know what one has to do with the other, but whatever.

(Maybe because wanting to try new things is like changing who you are)

Regardless, I feel like my life is at a stand still right now. And watching paint dry is more entertaining than what's going on with me.

So I'm going to try new things.

The special education teacher I work with, at my new job, plays the guitar. And keeps one in the classroom. I asked her if she would teach me. And she agreed. All I have to do now is set up a schedule.

Along with learning how to play the guitar, here's the rest of the list: (of course more will be added accordingly)

  1. Go to Egypt and study Arabic.
  2. Learn how to play the piano.
  3. Become fluent in sign language.
  4. Get on a plane (Yeah, thats right, I've never been on a plane)
  5. Fulfill a promise made to C.C. on her 20th birthday, including but not limited to traveling to England.
  6. Go sky diving
  7. Bungee jump!
  8. Visit the seven wonders of the Ancient world (or what's left of them, or where they used to be located) and Modern world.
  9. Buying my parents, each, a ticket to Hajj (also known as one of the five pillars of Islam. If Muslims are financially and physically capable, they must perform the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia and perform various rituals)
  10. Build a school/Open up a school. (It might be hard to do this by the age of thirty, so I'll aim for forty)
  11. Travel, at least once, to each of the fifty states in the U.S. of A.
  12. Write and have a published book/memoir.

Whatever, I know some of them seem very unlikely, but God willing, I will do it.

Any who, do you have a bucket list? What's on it?

Or if you had one, what would you put on it?

I heard on NPR that you were pretty much stuck as you are by the time you reach 26 - 30. At most, if you try really hard [failing the arrival of some life time tragedy] you might be able to change yourself by 5%, which is a bit gloomy, however, in my own case, they were quite wrong. I'm almost 65% different from when I was 30 so don't give up.
Cheers

Learn how to speak Arabic fluently
Get into Dental School
Travel the world
Adopt a child

And it goes on...

ooh i totally made one of these but most of mine are random and not all possible.. maybe i'll find and post that sometime.

am i the only one that doesn't think 30 is all that far off, and not a very old age at all? i mean its all relative.. in some ways 30 is old but as far as life experiences/adventure.. i'd like to think that i'll have the best times in my middle ages.

and CA i'm sure you're life is that stagnant. but i feel like you do all the time.. im surprised that you would consider going skydiving. :D
i'm thinking about using my mcat money (225$) to sign up for a skydiving trip with the school instead, hahah..
maybe we'll go together someday :)

my bucket list is pretty short and sweet. i want to drive a motorcycle, see a polar bear in the wild and skydive.

i'm not saying before i turn 30, but someday.

Love your list. I thought you might be scared to fly but then i saw skydive and i was like, hell, she's ok. She's just getting started, lol.
I always wanted to get married before I was 30. Made it. I'm 28, so I'm offended when you speak of 30 as if it's death.... but it sort of is, lol. I said to my friend the other day "I'm almost... um.." and she was like "You can say it, you're almost 30." (she turns 30 this month) and I was like oooooooh! I don't wanna say 30!!

I'd rather be 40. oprah keeps saying that's when life starts. And 50. She'll probably say it at 60 too.

I want to just write my book and go to France and England. Lifetime dreams. And i'm happy with my one baby... i thought i'd have 12 until I was actually pregnant and then I thought, "Nah, this is crap." ... I hated being pregnant... but it's nothing to worry about. It just stops you doing A LOT of things. lmao, like walking normally.

I used to play the acoustic guitar when I was a freshmen in high school. I used to be one of those cool girls with her guitar bag on her back sitting at coffee shops writing romantic poetry =D Hard to imagine, right?

Anyhow...I hope you're able to accomplish all those inshaAllah. If you can't study Arabic in Egypt ..you can study it with me when I open a center her inshaAllah in the future!! God bless America LOL

Yeah 30 was pretty traumatic, but thanks for rubbing it in. ;-)

My current list:
- Make it to 40!
- Provide college funds for my kids.

Yep, 30 is pretty boring! LOL, so get it all in now!
