From me, with Love

Dearest Michigan weather,

Make up your FREAKING mind!

This hot and cold thing you've got going on is even more aggravating than Katie Perry's song.

The month is April. The season is Spring.

But it doesn't look or feel like either.

I'm not saying I want it to be scorching hot. I just want it to be warm enough that a hijabi, such as myself, can be comfortable.

What do I mean by this, you ask?

Well you know how, Islamically speaking, Muslim females should cover their entire body, only revealing their hands and face?

And while doing this we should also be dressed modestly, i.e. no hip hugging pants and not borrowing our baby sister's extra small, extra tight shirts.

Basically wearing LOOSE fitted clothes.

Well most of the time wearing loose clothes entails layering, right? Right. And by layering I mean, we have to buy dresses/shirts that require us to wear something on top of it or underneath it, to cover our arms, chest, and/or our posterior.

I want that kind of weather. Where it's cool enough for us to layer but warm enough for us to wear flip flops. Cool enough that we can wear cute spring jackets. And warm enough that we wont die from dehydration and a heat stroke.

You know what I'm saying?

Is that SO much to ask for?

Not to mention, I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED to go shopping for summer dresses like these:

(We would "halalify" them of course with cardigans and/or undershirts. And pants even.)

(Halalify- the slang term to describe the act of making something halal or Islamically permissible)

These are the best things to happen to Muslim girls since tunics!!!

Remember these?!!!

Anyways, I love you, Michigan, you know I do.

But if you want me to stay here for the rest of my life, you gotta reciprocate that love via the weather.

Yours truly,

-A person who wants you to cooperate with her so that she can go shopping for adorable summer dresses ,even though she is on a really rigid fixed income

P.S. These dresses can be found on the Victoria Secret website.

P.S.S.Just an FYI though, they are ridiculously overpriced.

P.S.S.S. Why has everyone dubbed tunics as being "out of style". I say to heck with everyone.Let's bring back tunics!

tunics are ALWAYS in style (in the eastern lands, therefore ill always wear them lol)
they're so comfy

i LOVE these dresses *sigh*

at work, i learned that Michigan has 60-70% cloud cover, that's why we barely see sunshine around this time of year... sucks for us...

Chicago weather is the same way! Hot then cold, hot then cold. I wish it'd make up it's mind (preferably a nice Spring-warmth) and stay that way!

Stop teasing me with fashion..... Ahhhhhhh!!!!!
I love almost all these dresses, but, I fear that with my short frame I'd end up looking as though I was a child playing dressups...
When I go to the mid east I always feel so overdressed, even in winter. My husband's always like "Put a jacket over that" when I'm already too hot in a long jumper, several shirts to cover my chest area and closed shoes (I HATE closed shoes with a passion, they make me feel almost ill). And what's worse than having to cover up because your Muslim? Having to cover up because you're not actually Muslim and your husband eants you to.. = ANNNNOOOOOOOOOOOYiing.
Lol.

But I totally get how you feel xx

lol halalify i love the word! hahaha - english-enizing an arabic word, smart!

btw, i love those long dresses! but sadly, with my tall lanky frame (plus my attitude) i may look like a pregnant lady than a hot chick in fancy dress LOL. did i mention my tummy expands all the time accordingly to my meals?

i don't know that song but i love things that are hot and cold at the same time!! its the best
e.g.
a warm/hot day with a constant cool breeze
hot apple pie/crisp + cold vanilla ice cream
ice cream + hot fudge
ice cream + a hot cookie
mmmmmmm ok sorry i zoned out.

anywayyy i'm all about the bargain shopping. CA you already dress way too cute.. sigh all the girls on SD dress so well mA(by the will of God), except me! there's no way i'll spend more than $5 on price gauged clothing that cost $0.03 cents to make in a sweat shop by a poor kid or woman trying to feed her poor kids... working overtime for no pay. i need to start my own clothing company.. sigh

anyway i'm too shy to try to look cute; it's easier to confuse people by looking goofy or punk

I am so lucky. I never shop, let alone for clothes. I also have very strict rules for my clothes which primarily involved elastic. Secondarily, we're talking 'easy wash.' I am the original woman in comfortable shoes or better still socks. Fortunately for the rest of the world I very rarely go out in public.
Cheers

I'd love to go shopping and buy all those but unfortunately I won't have anywhere to wear them in India! I'd stick out like a sore thumb. I already do..lol. And I don't want to waste that money and buy it only for a month in case it goes out of style/I don't like them anymore after I come back. sdlf;jdga.

You're hot then you're cold, you're yes then you're no, you're in and out, you're up and you're down, you're always right, it's black and it's white. we fight, we break up. We kiss, we make up!
